Course Description and Objectives:
Statistical process control (SPC) is used to control a process, thus driving continuous cost savings and sustaining improvement activities that collectively result in creating a “quality product.” SPC is a key tool in identifying process deficiencies, defects, and mal-functions. While this course focuses on food processing and manufacturing facilities, it also covers other manufacturing industries’ needs for controlling their processes by offering an effective approach to:
- What to measure and identify product quality attributes
- Which process to prioritize,
- How to collect data and how much data to collect,
- What variable and attribute data are and how they differ,
- How to analyze control limits and control charts,
- How to determine the results of SPC in improving product quality and reducing costs, waste, and other inefficiencies?
None; however, familiarity with HACCP or other Food Safety and Quality plans is helpful.
